Did you know Georges Clooney owned a premium tequila brand? That’s right minions. It’s called Casamigos, it’s co-owned by Rande Gerber (Cindy Crawford’s husband) and it has just released a beautifully old-school video.
Probably to stand out from other premium tequila brands (like those owned by P. Diddy and Justin Timberlake), the campaign “House of Friends” goes lo-fi and differs from digital era campaigns.
The video was created by Jason Lee Parry, fashion photographer and focuses on friendship instead of the brand’s quality. We can see a bunch of hippie-like friends (actually Parry and his friends!) wandering around a camp in the woods, playing guitar by the fire, having fun and… passing the Casamigos bottles around.
We’re not sure we’re talking real hippies from the 60’s or hipsters with a 90’s look using an Instagram filter but the result looks great anyway.
The brand declared that this video was “the first amongst a series of incredibly candid scenes from a camping trip with old friends and new friends”.
Gerber declared that “Just like the tequila, our content is [like our tagline says] ‘brought to you by those who drink it’. We don’t really see this as a campaign. It’s just the culture of our company and the people who love Casamigos.”
He added: “We asked people to go out and define what friendship means to them. We want them to create memories and hope Casamigos will make it just a bit more fun.” In fact, the brand encouraged its fans to post videos on social media, tagging Casamigos. A few of these videos will be selected and shared on the brand’s social media channels.
We think it’s a pretty good idea to go against the trend and to bring back the 60’s to life.
